1.1  SUMMARY

1.2  REFERENCES

     A.   Codes and Standards: Emergency lighting equipment shall
          comply with the current editions of the following:
          1. UL 924 — Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment.
          2. NFPA 101 — Life Safety Code.
          3. NFPA 70 — National Electrical Code, Article 700 (Emergency Systems).
          4. IBC — International Building Code, Section 1008 (Means of Egress).
          5. IESNA — Lighting Handbook and LM-63 Photometric Data Standard.

1.3  SUBMITTALS

     A.   Product Data: Submit manufacturer's data sheets for each
          product specified, including:
          1.   Photometric data (IESNA LM-63 .ies file).
          2.   Emergency runtime and battery capacity.
          3.   Transfer time from normal to emergency power.
          4.   Construction, housing, and listing information.

     B.   Shop Drawings: Submit single-line diagrams showing:
          1.   Central battery system layout (if applicable).
          2.   Emergency branch circuiting.
          3.   Transfer switch coordination.
          4.   Load-balance calculations and voltage drop.

     C.   Field Quality Control Submittals:
          1.   Manufacturer's installation instructions.
          2.   Commissioning and start-up procedures.
          3.   Self-test and discharge-test reports.

1.4  QUALITY ASSURANCE

     A.   Manufacturer Qualifications: Products supplied under this
          Section shall be provided by a single manufacturer holding
          current UL 924 listings for all supplied equipment.

     B.   Installer Qualifications: Licensed electrical contractor
          with a minimum of five (5) years' experience installing
          commercial emergency lighting systems of comparable scope.

     C.   Source Limitation: Obtain each type of emergency lighting
          product through one source from a single manufacturer to
          ensure system coordination and serviceability.

1.5  DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

     A.   Deliver equipment in manufacturer's original, undamaged
          packaging. Store in clean, dry, covered location. Do not
          install equipment that has been damaged in transit.

1.6  WARRANTY

     A.   Manufacturer's Warranty: Submit manufacturer's standard
          written warranty for a minimum of five (5) years from date
          of Substantial Completion, covering defects in materials
          and workmanship.

     B.   Battery Warranty: Minimum ten (10) years pro-rated for
          sealed VRLA battery strings used in central battery
          systems.

PART 2 — PRODUCTS

2.1  MANUFACTURERS

     A.   Basis-of-Design Manufacturer: Sage EM, LLC, Port Aransas,
          Texas. Refer to www.sageem.co for current product data.

     B.   Acceptable Manufacturers: Products of the specified
          manufacturer are considered the basis-of-design. Alternate
          manufacturers shall submit written request for equal, with
          documentation demonstrating compliance with all performance,
          listing, and coordination requirements.

2.2  CENTRAL BATTERY SYSTEM

     A.   Basis-of-Design Product: Sage EM Keystone, Volta, or
          Olympus series central battery, sized for the emergency
          load as indicated on the Drawings.

     B.   Performance Requirements:
          1.   Rated Output: DC output at 24 or 48 VDC nominal, sized
               for connected emergency load with 25% spare capacity.
          2.   Runtime: Minimum 90 minutes at full rated load.
          3.   Transfer Time: Less than 10 milliseconds from loss of
               utility AC to emergency output.
          4.   Recharge Time: Full recharge within 24 hours of 90-minute
               discharge.

     C.   Construction:
          1.   Enclosure: Code-gauge steel with baked enamel finish.
               Wall or floor mount as indicated.
          2.   Input: 277 VAC, 1Ø or 3Ø as indicated.
          3.   Batteries: Sealed valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA),
               replaceable from front panel, manufacturer-warranted.
          4.   Charger: Microprocessor-controlled, temperature-
               compensated, with recharge and battery-health logging.

     D.   Self-Testing: System shall perform automatic self-tests in
          accordance with NFPA 101 §7.9.3:
          1.   Monthly: 30-second functional test with logged result.
          2.   Annually: Full 90-minute discharge test with logged
               per-circuit result and battery capacity verification.

     E.   Sage Live™ Remote Monitoring: Central battery shall include
          integral cloud-based monitoring module providing:
          1.   Continuous telemetry of battery voltage, charge state,
               temperature, charger output, and transfer-switch state.
          2.   Real-time email alerts to designated facility staff
               on any out-of-spec condition.
          3.   NFPA 101 §7.9.3 self-test log output in PDF format on
               demand, with timestamped per-fixture results.

2.3  EMERGENCY LIGHTING CONTROL (ELC) MODULES

     A.   Basis-of-Design Product: Sage EM SR-series ELC modules.

     B.   Performance:
          1.   Listed to UL 924.
          2.   Sized per Drawings for host luminaire wattage and input
               voltage.
          3.   Transfer from AC normal to DC emergency in less than
               10 milliseconds on loss of normal power.

2.4  GENERAL-LIGHTING LUMINAIRES WITH FACTORY-INSTALLED ELC

     A.   Basis-of-Design Products: Sage EM SCB Fixture series.
          Provide fixtures as scheduled on the Drawings.

     B.   ELC Integration: Each specified fixture shall ship from
          factory with ELC module pre-installed and pre-wired to
          accept 120/277 VAC normal input and 24/48 VDC emergency
          input from the central battery system.

2.5  ARCHITECTURAL EMERGENCY LUMINAIRES

     A.   Basis-of-Design Products: Sage EM Luminaire series,
          including Phoenix, Aspen, Orion, Obsidian, and Onyx.

     B.   Photometric Performance: Each luminaire shall be supplied
          with IESNA LM-63 .ies photometric data files suitable for
          import into AGi32, DIALux, or Visual photometric software.

     C.   Emergency Operation: Provide in BB (battery-backup), RE
          (remote off central battery), or AC (no emergency) variants
          as scheduled on the Drawings.

2.6  EXIT SIGNS AND COMBINATION UNITS

     A.   Basis-of-Design Products: Sage EM Exits & Emergencies
          series, including Jasper, Opalite, Luma, and Rowan.

     B.   Performance:
          1.   LED exit sign with minimum 25-year rated LED life.
          2.   Single- or double-face with field-configurable
               directional chevrons.
          3.   Listed to UL 924 for emergency egress illumination.
          4.   Minimum 90-minute battery-backup on BB variants;
               remote-fed from central battery on RE variants.

PART 3 — EXECUTION

3.1  EXAMINATION

     A.   Examine areas and conditions for compliance with requirements
          for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting
          performance. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory
          conditions have been corrected.

3.2  INSTALLATION

     A.   Install emergency lighting equipment in accordance with
          manufacturer's written instructions, the Drawings, and the
          applicable requirements of NFPA 70, NFPA 101, and the
          authority having jurisdiction.

     B.   Mount fixtures plumb and square. Align with adjacent general
          lighting where shown on the Drawings.

     C.   Route low-voltage DC emergency wiring in accordance with
          Section 26 05 19 and NEC Article 700 requirements.

3.3  COMMISSIONING

     A.   Perform start-up and commissioning in accordance with
          manufacturer's written procedures.

     B.   Demonstrate transfer from AC normal to emergency operation
          in the presence of the Owner and authority having jurisdiction.
          Confirm required illumination levels along egress paths.

3.4  SELF-TESTING

     A.   Enable manufacturer's automatic self-test routines prior to
          Substantial Completion:
          1.   Monthly 30-second functional test.
          2.   Annual 90-minute full-discharge test.

     B.   Submit initial test reports as part of Owner's close-out
          documentation.

3.5  DEMONSTRATION

     A.   Train Owner's maintenance personnel on emergency-system
          operation, self-test access, Sage Live™ portal use (if
          specified), battery replacement, and annual inspection
          procedures.
